2006, Jitterbug model

This is the first Jitterbug I made, as a demonstrator of the concepts and movement.  The first pic shows the collapsed Octahedron mode.

The second pic shows the fully expanded Cuboctahedron mode.

The last pic shows halfway collapsed mode, where it renders an Icosahedron (if you imagine chords connecting the short way across each of the eight diamonds.  In this pic, there is one closest to the camera, the chord would start at the node near the person’s thumb.

Note that unlike Jitterbug 2016, this uses rubber for the joints, so it is floppy and doesn’t hold its shape, , and thus must be held in shape by hand.
